On an educational platform for kids, brand identity isn't won through a memorable logo, but through an original character kids genuinely bond with. A successful mascot works as a tool for attraction and retention, not just visual decoration.

Context

Kids don't look for brands. They look for characters.

Kids don't look for brands. They look for characters.

Kids don't look for brands. They look for characters.

The real competition on an educational platform for kids isn't visual, it's emotional. Kids naturally “look for characters,” and platforms compete for their attention and affection just as much as for the parents who actually choose the platform.

A compelling, distinctive character becomes a long-term brand symbol, the equivalent of a Duolingo owl or a GitHub octocat, not just a graphic element on a site. That was exactly the stake for MyKoolio.com: building a character that lasts, not just a logo that looks good at launch.

“A child doesn't remember a logo. They remember a friend.”

“A child doesn't remember a logo. They remember a friend.”

Positioning principle applied in the MyKoolio.com strategy

Brand idea

A family of characters, not one fixed mascot.

A family of characters, not one fixed mascot.

A family of characters, not one fixed mascot.

MyKoolio.com set out to become Romania's number one educational platform, and our agency was chosen to build everything from scratch: the name, including the domain mykoolio.com, the brand philosophy and strategy, were all created entirely by our agency, just like the whole visual identity. The core of the strategy: instead of a single fixed mascot, we designed a generative system of characters — a constant facial architecture (big eyes, the smile, the rounded head shape) reinterpreted through color, skin tone, and hair texture — supported by a wordmark with an unchanging color structure: “MY” hand-lettered in gray, “KOOLIO” bold and vividly colored, “.com” in a discreet gray script.

The idea: representation and personalization, without sacrificing brand recognizability. Any variant remains instantly identifiable as MyKoolio.

Applications

One character, applied everywhere.

One character, applied everywhere.

From the identity sheet to the live interface, the same facial architecture and the same wordmark stay recognizable on any medium.

01

The wordmark's fixed architecture

The same color structure: “MY” hand-lettered in gray, “KOOLIO” bold and vividly colored, “.com” in a discreet gray script, regardless of which mascot variant is used.

02

Controlled character variability

Color, skin tone, hair or horn type — as a tool for inclusion and personalization, not visual inconsistency.

03

Monochrome versions

A full black-and-white and gray system, for applications where color isn't available: black-and-white print, stamps, reduced UI interfaces.

04

Consistent application, web and print

The same playful visual energy on any medium, from the site's interface to a wall poster.

Result

A corporate brand and a friend, in the same system.

A corporate brand and a friend, in the same system.

A corporate brand and a friend, in the same system.

The system built for MyKoolio.com works simultaneously as a corporate brand, for the site and official communication, and as a character a child can form a real emotional bond with.

The flexibility of the mascot family allows for future extensions, merchandise, educational materials, gamification — without needing a new mascot every time.
